If you want to send transactional emails or transactional SMS from Odoo without relying on the default IAP service, two new modules are now available on the Odoo App Store: Mangono Sweego Mail and Mangono Sweego SMS, developed by French company Mangono.
Both connectors integrate Sweego’s sending infrastructure — including its SMTP relay, SMS API, and delivery-tracking webhooks — directly into Odoo’s messaging system. No OCA module is required.
Who is Mangono?
Mangono is a French company based in Angers that specializes in Odoo integration, custom development, and hosting. The company supports businesses as they migrate to Odoo, adapt their ERP, and build new processes around it.
Mangono also develops and maintains a range of connectors and business modules available on the Odoo App Store, covering areas such as pharmaceutical distribution, purchasing and procurement, competitive intelligence, and transport.
The two Sweego connectors are a natural extension of this work: they give Odoo users a French-built option for handling transactional email and SMS, without relying on Odoo’s default sending services.
The email connector: mangono_sweego_mail
The Mangono Sweego Mail module adds a dedicated Sweego authentication mode to Odoo’s outgoing mail server settings. Once selected, the SMTP relay configuration — including the server address, port, and STARTTLS encryption — is filled in automatically.
Here are the main features:
- Send emails through the Sweego SMTP relay, while keeping Odoo’s native email workflow.
- Receive customer replies directly in Odoo’s chatter for documents such as orders, invoices, and tickets, using a signed Reply-To token.
- Keep the email queue in sync with delivery status: messages are only removed from the queue once Sweego confirms delivery, either through a webhook or a scheduled fallback task.
- Track delivery status in detail, including delivered, sent, and undelivered messages, with statuses mapped to Odoo’s native failure types such as blacklisted addresses, hard bounces, and soft bounces.
- Secure webhooks with HMAC-SHA256 signatures, using separate secrets for inbound and outbound traffic.
- Support multiple companies and mail servers, allowing each company to use its own Sweego sending domain.
- Monitor sending quotas directly in Odoo’s General Settings, including consumed volume, limits, burst capacity, and billing period.
The SMS connector: mangono_sweego_sms
The second module lets Odoo users replace the default IAP service for SMS with Sweego’s REST API. It relies on Odoo 19’s standard SmsApiBase mechanism, so there is no dependency on an OCA module.
Key features include:
- Choose the SMS provider per company: companies within the same Odoo database can independently use either Odoo IAP or Sweego.
- Configure the Sender ID and campaign type — transactional or marketing — for each company.
- Handle local phone numbers automatically, including French numbers entered without an international country code.
- Map Sweego API errors to Odoo’s native SMS failure types, making errors easier to understand and manage.
- Track SMS credit balances and expiry dates directly from General Settings.
- Work alongside
sms_twilio: IAP, Sweego, and Twilio can coexist on the same Odoo instance without conflicts.
Why use Sweego instead of Odoo IAP or Gmail/Microsoft 365?
For small volumes, Odoo’s built-in IAP service — or a Gmail or Microsoft 365 mailbox used as an SMTP server — can be perfectly adequate. But these options can become limiting as transactional messaging grows.
Daily sending limits, shared IP reputation, limited delivery visibility, and the lack of real-time webhooks can make it harder to reliably manage transactional messages at scale.
Sweego is designed specifically for transactional messaging, covering both email and SMS.
Some of the main advantages include:
- Hosted in France, which can make GDPR compliance easier to manage.
- Automatic SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configuration for sending domains.
- Detailed deliverability statistics and real-time webhooks for every message.
- Straightforward pricing: the SMTP relay is free for up to 100 emails per day, then scales according to volume and options such as dedicated IPs. SMS is charged per message, with no minimum subscription.
Getting started
Getting started with either connector only takes a few steps:
- Install
mangono_sweego_mailand/ormangono_sweego_smsfrom the Odoo App Store, or directly from the Apps menu in your Odoo instance. - Enter your Sweego API key and Client UUID under Settings → Mangono Sweego.
- For email, create an outgoing mail server using the Sweego authentication mode, then add your webhook secrets.
- For SMS, select Sweego as your provider in General Settings and configure a Sender ID if required.
Both connectors are available on the Odoo App Store and can be used with Odoo Online, Odoo.sh, and On Premise installations:
- Mangono Sweego Mail on the Odoo App Store
- Mangono Sweego SMS on the Odoo App Store
- Mangono’s dedicated Sweego connector page
Frequently asked questions
How do I send transactional emails from Odoo?
Install the mangono_sweego_mail module. It adds a Sweego authentication mode to Odoo’s outgoing mail servers and automatically handles the required SMTP settings, including the port and encryption.
How do I send SMS from Odoo without using IAP?
Install mangono_sweego_sms. The module uses the Sweego SMS API instead of Odoo IAP and lets you choose the provider on a per-company basis, without requiring an OCA module.
Are the connectors compatible with multi-company setups?
Yes. Both modules support multi-company configurations natively. Each company can have its own sending domain for email and choose its own SMS provider.
Who built these connectors?
The connectors were developed by Mangono, a French company specializing in Odoo integration, custom development, and hosting. They connect Odoo directly to Sweego’s email and SMS infrastructure.hnical teams evaluate the platform.
