SNDS and JMRP: Microsoft's deliverability updates for 2025

Microsoft strengthens security for its deliverability tools: what’s changing for SNDS and JMRP

Microsoft has just announced a series of updates to its two flagship email reputation monitoring tools: SNDS (Smart Network Data Services) and JMRP (Junk Mail Reporting Program). These changes, part of a broader security enhancement initiative, deserve the attention of all professional senders.

SNDS: mandatory authentication starting November 2025

The first major change already has a date: starting November 2025, approving or denying network access on SNDS will require authentication. No more direct access — Microsoft is adding an extra layer of protection to secure the management of your IP ranges.

Other upcoming changes

Microsoft has also announced several updates whose deployment dates are yet to be confirmed:

On the JMRP side, the spam reporting program will standardize all reports to ARF format (Abuse Reporting Format). This harmonization will make automated complaint processing easier for senders who leverage this data.

On the SNDS side, two notable changes: the end of complaint sample downloads, and a migration to a new, more secure URL.

For both services, automated report links will now expire after 30 days. And most importantly, JMRP feeds not linked to an SNDS account will be removed — you’ll need to recreate them directly from your SNDS interface.

What this means for you

If you use SNDS and JMRP to monitor your reputation with Microsoft (Outlook, Hotmail, Live), make sure your JMRP feeds are properly linked to your SNDS account. It’s also a good time to verify that your network access is up to date.

These updates confirm the ongoing trend: webmail providers are tightening their security and traceability requirements. One more reason to maintain impeccable sending hygiene.
